Integration Guide
Available on requestConnect Segwise to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex
The Segwise MCP server connects your creative analytics to the AI tools your team already works in, so you can ask about your creative data without opening a dashboard. To get it switched on for your account, speak to your Segwise account manager.
What is MCP
MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard for connecting a tool like Segwise to an AI client like Claude. Connect once and your AI tool can query your Segwise data directly, so you ask a question in the window you are already typing in and get an answer built from your own account, with no copy-pasting and no switching between tabs.
What you can do with the Segwise MCP
You ask in plain language and your AI tool works out which data it needs, so you never have to name any of this directly. Everything below is read-only.
| What you can do | What that reaches |
|---|---|
| Analyse your creative performance | Ask about your top and bottom performers across your connected ad networks, sorted by the metric you care about and filtered to any date range. Impressions, clicks, installs, spend, CPI, CTR, CVR, ROAS and your custom events. |
| Query at the tag level | Ask which hook scenes, CTAs, characters or visual styles drive performance instead of just which creative IDs spent. Your custom tags and the ones pulled from your naming conventions come through too, so answers use your team's vocabulary. |
| Bring in post-install and MMP data | Attribution from AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch and Singular, mapped down to the creative and the tag rather than stopping at the campaign. |
| Research your competitors | Ask what the competitors you track on Meta are running, tagged with the same AI as your own ads, so their hooks, CTAs and messaging can be compared against yours. |
| Work from your saved reports | Start a question from a report your team already built in Segwise, so the answer begins from a view you trust rather than from scratch. |
Available tools
The Segwise MCP exposes a single tool. Your AI client calls it on its own based on what you ask, so there is no tool catalogue to learn and no tool names to remember.
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
Ask Segwiseask_segwise | Answers any question about your creative data. It works out which of your data the question needs, whether that is creative performance, tag-level results, post-install metrics, competitor creatives or a saved report, and returns the answer with the numbers behind it. |
One tool instead of a dozen means your AI client never has to pick the right one. You can ask a broad question, then keep drilling in with follow-ups, without steering it toward a particular tool or knowing how your data is organised.
What it does not do
The Segwise MCP server is read-only. Your AI tool can look at your creative analytics and report back on what it finds. It cannot:
- Create or edit reports and dashboards.
- Change anything in your Segwise account, including tags, custom tags and settings.
- Touch your ad networks or push anything live.
Coming soon: generation and brief writing through the MCP. Today generation stays inside Segwise, where your team reviews and approves every ad before it goes anywhere.
Before you connect
- A Segwise account. You will authenticate with your existing Segwise login when you connect the server.
- At least one connected ad network or MMP, so there is creative data for your AI tool to query.
- An MCP-compatible client, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Codex. MCP is an open standard, so one connection works across every tool that supports it.
Questions you can ask
Copy any of these straight into your AI tool, or use them as a starting point. You ask in plain language and your AI tool works out which data it needs.
Find what is working
- “What were my top 10 creatives by ROAS last month, and which tags do they have in common?”
- “Which hook scenes drove the most installs in the last 30 days?”
- “Which creative elements have the best CTR on TikTok compared with Meta?”
- “Which of my playables has the best IPM, and what mechanic does it use?”
- “Show me the CTAs that appear most often in my top 20 creatives by spend.”
Work out what is not
- “Which creatives spent more than $5,000 last month with below-average ROAS?”
- “Compare my worst performers this month with my best. What do the weak ones have in common?”
- “Which of my top creatives are starting to decline on ROAS?”
- “Which tags show up in my low performers and almost never in my winners?”
Compare against competitors
- “What creative angles are my tracked competitors running on Meta that I am not?”
- “How does my hook mix compare with my competitors'?”
- “Which messaging themes are my competitors using most often right now?”
Pull a view for your team
- “Summarise my saved Q3 creative report for a leadership update.”
- “How is my spend split across networks, and how does creative performance differ on each?”
- “Give me the five creatives I should talk about in this week's review, and why.”
Tips for better answers
- Name the date range. Last 7 days, this month or an explicit range will always beat an open-ended question.
- Use your own tag names. If your team has set up custom tags in Segwise, referencing them directly gets you a sharper answer.
- Say which network you mean. Asking about Meta, TikTok or AppLovin specifically avoids a blended average that hides the real story.
- Start broad, then drill in. Open with your top creatives by ROAS, then follow up on the ones worth a closer look.
- Ask it to show its working. Requesting the creatives or tags behind a claim lets you check the answer against Segwise itself.
Supported clients
Because MCP is an open standard, the same server URL works everywhere. Your account manager sends the setup steps for whichever of these your team uses.
- Claude
- ChatGPT
- Cursor
- Codex
Security and data privacy
- The server is read-only. Your AI tool can query your creative data and report back, but it cannot change anything in your Segwise account.
- You connect with your own Segwise login, and each person connects individually.
- You control who has access. Only the people you hand a connection to can reach your Segwise data through it.
- You can disconnect at any time from your AI tool's settings, which revokes access immediately.
FAQs
- Which ad networks does it cover?
- It queries the creative data that is already in your Segwise account, so it covers whichever ad networks and MMPs you have connected. Competitor creatives are currently Meta, matching competitor tracking in the product today.
- How many tools does the MCP expose?
- One, called Ask Segwise. Most MCP servers publish a catalogue of narrow tools and leave the AI client to pick between them, which is where wrong answers usually come from. Segwise exposes a single tool that works out which of your data a question needs, so you ask in plain language and follow up freely.
- Can it change anything in my account?
- No. The server is read-only. It cannot create or edit reports, change tags or settings, generate ads, or touch your ad networks.
- Can it write briefs or generate ads for me?
- Not yet, and this one is coming. Generation and brief writing through the MCP are on the way. Today the MCP returns data, and generation stays inside Segwise where your team reviews and approves every ad before it goes anywhere.
- Does everyone on my team need their own connection?
- Yes. Each person connects their own AI tool with their own Segwise login.
- How do I get access?
- The MCP is enabled per account. Speak to your Segwise account manager and they will switch it on and send you the server URL along with the connection steps for your client. If you are not a Segwise customer yet, book a demo to get started.
How to get set up
